2018 ANCOP Walk

This September 16, 2018, Sunday, we invite you to join us as we Walk in Love to support our mission in answering the cry of the poor.

What is the ANCOP Walk?

The ANCOP Walk is a global annual event of ANCOP that raises funds for its Shelter, Child Sponsorship and Humanitarian Relief programs.  It is faith in action!  Individuals and groups participate in the walk, generously giving donations or helping solicit funds for ANCOP.  Kids, youth, adults and seniors join together to walk for the poor and rally the public to support the cause.

 How does it work?

ANCOP Walk participants should be registered and pay the $35 registration fee for adult ($25 for students 13-18 years of age).  The $5 of the registration fee is automatically allocated to the benefit of St. Vincent de Paul Society - outreach to the poor.

To register you can do any of the following:

Upon registration, participants can start soliciting sponsors and collecting pledges in support of their participation using the ANCOP Walk pledge forms that you can request from any ANCOP officers.  To avoid unauthorized solicitation make sure that your registration number is indicated in the pledge form.  We request that you return any unused printed form to any ANCOP Officers.

Each participant can choose who will be the beneficiary of the funds that they will raise among the beneficiaries listed below:

  • ANCOP Shelter Program - a project that provides shelter to the poorest of the poor in the Philippines and other third world countries; or
  • ANCOP Child Sponsorship Program - a project that sponsors a child in need of eduction; or
  • St Vincent de Paul Society - official charity of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Hamilton Bermuda that provides assistance to the needy in Bermuda through its activities which includes the feeding of the hungry, clothing of the poor, visiting the sick and providing assistance in crisis situations with utilities, medical, shelter and food.

How much do I need to raise?

We encourage you to set yourself a personal target.  That's the great thing!  Every amount you raise goes to your credit.  You can also set up specific targets as follows:

  • $3,600 builds 1 house and $384 sponsors a child's education for 1 year.
  • $36,000 for an entire village (start with 10 houses towards minimum of 30) and $3,840 sponsors a batch of 10 children.

If you need help in setting up your target, speak to any ANCOP Bermuda officers.

Who can take part in the Walk?

The walk is open to everyone.  You must also be up for the challenge of walking a distance of 5 kilometers or so, and willing to help generate resources for your sponsorship.  Those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

How do I learn more about becoming a sponsor?

Speak to any ANCOP Bermuda officers or contact Evelou Mosley at ancopbermuda@outlook.com.

How do I participate in the ANCOP Walk?

You can participate as an individual with your personal target of sponsorship.  You can also form a team, act as team captain, and recruit members to walk and raise funds to reach your target.  Or, you may join an existing team.

This is a 5km fun walk.  The gathering point is at Botanical Gardens - taking the scenic route of Harbour Road, Lover's Lane, South Road, all the way to Tee Street back to Berry Hill Road.

Assembly time is 8:00 a.m.  Walk starts at 8:30 a.m.

The first 100 registrants will receive a FREE t-shirt.  And also freebies will be given away to the early birds on the day of the event.
